10/5.....Well October is finally here but someone forgot to tell the fish....and before you ask....No I still don't have any spots....Have you noticed how nice the weather has been....those days we are still wearing shorts and short sleeve shirts.....not exactly spot weather.....not to mention I still don't have a north east wind.....and no I'm not really sure when that is going to change or when the fish will show up....but I promise to let you know just as soon as it does.....
now for the rest of the story....there have been the occasional pompano and black drum in the surf and a few spanish and blues out toward the end......I do hear from time to time that there are a handful of mullet showing up after dark....still overall not enough to brag about yet....but I did talk to the guy from Fisherman's Post today....and he was telling me that Emerald Isle has finally started reporting a run of spots.....they are north of us so maybe they are not to far away....keep checking.....
We have had five kings show up this past week and all the pictures are listed on the bragging rights page so be sure to check that out...
10/8....Three kings today.....one yesterday and one the day before....spots are starting to put in an appearance.....are they biting two at a time all up and down the pier.....NO not yet....but they are doing decent out there with a few mullet mixed in....how long will it last?....not really sure....you can always call ahead and see what's going on .....or just come on down and try your luck.....Things are starting to look up a bit out there.....having cooler nights and the wind is trying to blow from the east north east......
10/9....Three more kings today.....and a few blues...cloudy and overcast....rain started late
10/10.....Day started out nice.....Robert Barwick finally caught a king.....only one king today....still a few blues and spanish......a few spots showing up.....rain starting in ....people still showing up.....
10/11......The rain has set in.....but they are catching spots......
10/12......The rain has finally stopped.....still picking up a few spots.....with the exception of the rain the weekend wasn't that bad.....the spots came in on Friday afternoon and so did the rain.....but that didn't stop the true fisherman.....then on Saturday....I think the rain just got worse and the wind picked up but the pier was still packed and still catching spots, croakers, drum and grey trout....today the weather is nice and a light breeze no rain and I'm still hearing spots....
10/14....The only thing that could make today any better would be for it to Friday the 13th to go with this full moon.....These spot fisherman are getting crazy.....the fish are in and out....come on down....find you a spot and make new friends....I will be the one going to the fish house to get my spots......ta ta
no seriously the fish are doing ok .....they are in and out....the weather is beautiful.....and bloodworms are the bait of choice......there were a few black drum, mullet and pompano mixed in the bunch......
10/17.....I know....I just Haven't had time.....will do better in the morning I need to download about a dozen pictures....but to give you a quick update .....its raining and the fish are not biting.....the weather has been to nice ......the weather has been in the upper 80's lower 90's again....fish don't bite when its pretty.......the kings are here and around....... caught 6 today and 2 yesterday and 3 the day before.......remember pictures to follow.......
Ok to finish updating for you.....like I was telling you the weather has been wonderful more like August less like October....but with that comes less fish....the past few days I have seen a few black drum, flounder, pompanos, lizard fish and a couple of blues and spanish ....summer time kind of fish....late nights and early mornings there have been a few mullet around....with the warmer days the water temps have inched back up.....remember last weekend when it was cold and wet and rather nasty....we were catching fish and with the coming cold front we should again....
as for the end of the pier....the kings are out and about.....
Tim Willard has caught his limit today and Jay Childress managed to bring in a 39 lb monster
10/18.....Good morning.....its raining and a few pan size spots are biting.....from what I hear they are catching more blues and mullet than spots.....as the day goes on hopefully with the weather change we will begin to see more spot activity....Caught two kings today....
10/19.....Spots started biting around late afternoon today....they have done half way decent ......the wind is cold and yes there are quite a few people on the pier....We did manage to land two kings again today one was done by a ten year old Brandon with a 17.5 lb king.....
the week looks to be cool during the day and cold after dark....hopefully that will help keep fish around a while....
10/20.....You know just a couple of days ago the temps were hitting 90 and this morning it was somewhere in the 40's and by the afternoon reaching the 70's....I just don't know how to dress.....and if you think I'm confused you should see these fish....they are biting on the south side of the pier catching spots two at a time and right behind them on the north side they are catching spanish and blues .....down in the surf they are catching pompano and flounder......so basically depending on where you are standing what you are catching.....as I write now it is 6pm the weather is still nice starting to cool off and they have landed three kings and the spots are still biting......
Spots two at a time.....many times.....
Blues ....spanish....and pompanos
10/22.....Who turned on the A/C.....all you people who have been complaining about the heat come on down.....the A/C is working fine now......been a quiet day fishing today....seen most people huddled up trying to keep warm.....saw few blues out toward the end....over all kinda a quiet day....around dark started hearing of a few blues in the surf....a couple of pompanos and a handful of mullet out on the end.....only one king today and two yesterday....the wind is coming out of the north maybe better tomorrow.....
11/2.......There hasn't been much to tell you lately....if you call I would tell you not much is going on and what they are catching isn't really enough to brag about....that's not to say they aren't catching a few blues and drum during the day and mullet after dark.....its all been a hit and miss...some are doing well others are catching nothing....kinda getting to be that time of year...gets darker earlier....colder evenings....the fisherman don't tend to stay around as late....
I will let you in on a secret I have started seeing some of those fish with spots we aren't suppose to speak about let me show you a picture of some that were caught during the day time.......and who you might be out there with ....
