Fishing Reports and Updates

4/3......I feel as though I should up date but nothing really has changed this past week....... we have had less people around .....and a little more rain, but that is about the only real difference......we are still seeing some mullet in the day time.....but doing much better with them after dark.....truthfully haven't heard much about the blowfish but then again most are after the mullet anyway and that's what they seem to be catching.....The weekend looks to be so so.....you know how it is on the island.....it just might turn out to be nice after all....hope to see you all this weekend......

4/9.....We are still catching mullet .....some in the a.m. hours.....but still doing the best after dark.....heard of more blues yesterday....water temp is finally warming up some....should start to see more variety soon.....we still have our share of skates and sharks.....

The weather this week just keeps looking better and better.....should bring more people out to try.....

4/17....It has been a little cool this past week but it hasn't stopped the mullet from biting.....just the fisherman from coming out....I guess its just to cold for you guys....those who stick it out are catching mullet....but if you stop and think about it its still early in April not many people are around yet this time of year....Now this weekend looks to be fabulous so there should be no excuses the tempatures are going to be in the 70's and 80's with only a small chance of rain on Sunday....the wind looks good out of the SW.....so if you don't come this weekend and getcha some I have no sympathy for ya.....

You have been asking so here it is Mark your calendar the 4th Annual Mike Martin Tournament has been scheduled for August 16th and 17th 2008.....more detail to follow on the website soon....

4/21......Look what we had....Hail the size of peas....not a great pic but I just wanted to share with you...

We have had alot of rain lately.....the blues have slowed down and the mullet are still biting....

4/23.....Heard of a few blues today......had mostly all mullet on and off all day....Its been a bit cool at night but the mullet are still biting....where are you.....I'm getting bored so I think I will go and see if I can catch a few......

4/24.....Caught big mullet this morning and the pompano have started showing up......we have had a good run on blues this afternoon.....The water is calmer and the wind isn't bad.....starting to feel alot like summer out there......

Just a quick note I went out after work last night and caught a few mullet....and I even caught a baby spot and saw a few others....now don't get crazy the spots are not running but they are here and around along with the mullet....only saw one skate the weather was nice ...not to cold.....had a small but enjoyable crowd out there with me.....where were you?

4/27....The weekend has been good.....started off on Friday with SPOTS.....
Chopper blues have also showed up.....Billy caught one on Thursday and one on Friday....still seeing many of the smaller ones on Gotcha plugs.....after dark the mullet seem to be coming in stronger....We have truly had a mixed bag this weekend in addition to the other we have also had a few pompano caught and a good number of keeper flounder landed....the water temp is finally warming up.....we should expect to see more fish soon....
....the weather has been nice and the nights are not to cold....the people have been friendly and the fish are cooperating....if you are wanting to fish now is the time to be doing it.....

5/2 .....How's that saying go....should have been here yesterday ....well you should have been here last week.....this week just hasn't been the same.....Sunday was good....been kinda down hill since....the cooler weather moved in had a couple of nights in the 40's....the weather is finally warming back up the wind has switched back out of the south starting to see blues again in the day time and mullet again after dark....still not like it was but at least they are still around.....

starting to hear more spanish just south of us....if the weather continues to be nice should start seeing some spanish this week....maybe even a king by next week....the weekend looks to be nice with a chance of rain on Sunday .....come on down and try your luck...

5/4......Another nice weekend has come and gone.....and we did have fish so that was a plus.....blues still showing up in the daytime and mullet after dark....Even heard tell of a couple of spanish this morning...as I write to you I'm hearing of more spanish this evening...(5:45pm...I will see if I cant get a picture to add soon)....still picking up those choppers and not just on the end either...had one nice size one caught up here in the surf on a bottom rig...so anyone is likely to catch one if they try....

They did pretty good with mullet last night....it has been a hit a miss lately....not quite as good as it was before all the cool weather came through but at least they are still catching them....

5/6....The sun is shinning and they caught spanish and blues again this morning....waiting to see if they catch them again this afternoon.....last night after the rain a few people came out and tried fishing and caught a few mullet....

5/9....Catching mullet after dark....nice big ones......decent number of blues during the day....and a few small spanish....

5/10.....Big Chopper blues are here.....water started off muddy but cleared up this afternoon and everyone who wanted a chopper probably could have had one.....I even saw spectators leaving with blues today.....not much else....the occasional mullet.....

5/11...Happy Mother's Day to all our mothers.....The morning started with alot of rain....the afternoon has cleared some but the water is rough and I guess most of you are out doing things with your mother's and families....kinda quiet around here....

Have you ever wondered what kind of treasure is found at the end of a Rainbow.....

Now you know...it just might be us....

5/13.....Spanish are back....have had blues most of the day....not hearing much else yet...cool out today...wind has layed some....still breezy....wind out of the NNW

I regret to inform you that we have lost another member of our Pier Family today....Walt Garner at the age of 89 passed away early this morning at his home here on HWY 210...He was well love and will be greatly missed...Our thoughts and prayers go out to Doris and his Children and the rest of the family and friends who loved him best....As I have details I will be glad to share them with you....I have added some pictures of fond memories of Walt on the Remember When Page...

There will be a Memorial Service Honoring His Life here at the SCP on Sunday May 18th at 2 p.m. All who knew him and loved him are encouraged to attend...

5/15....Saw some more Spanish and Blues today....early was better...the wind has picked up this afternoon....still catching blues and a spanish once in a while....been one of those days.....The weekend is showing promise....looks like it just might be nice...make some plans and come on down....

5/19....Blues Blues Everywhere are Blues.....Saw some spanish too.....I even managed to get my lazy tail out there ....even took out my rod....didn't really catch anything to busy running my mouth to fish....but there was plenty to be had.....The weekend wasn't bad....had a Tarpon on and lost it ....saw it tail dance across the water a few times....had two kings on yesterday and lost them.....starting to worry about you boys out there....with all the kings caught last year you would think you guys would quit practicing and catch one already.....as for the night time fishing we are still seeing some mullet and blues...so all is not lost.....the wind seems to pick up every afternoon and get quite breezy out here but the tempatures is still nice .......who knows....come on lets go fishing....

I'm copying and pasting from another website because I want you to know and hopefully fish....too....looks like its gonna be alot of fun.... visit their website at www.ncangler.com
