8/5.....Tonight is the night to king fish all night....if you are going to do it....you have the full moon the weather is ok and had a Tarpon hit last night and it ran for about 10 mins so they are around......the guys caught one king yesterday and one so far today.....seeing a few mullet and spots still....so things are still pretty normal out there....the wind has picked up a bit....hopefully it will lay down around dark like usual so the guys will have a decent night to try....good luck to each of them .....
The King Tournament ends on Sunday the 9th at sunset.....as for The Mike Martin Tournament is it just a little over a week away.....Pre-Registration is going well hopefully everyone will have a chance to attend it looks to be a lot of fun again this year....Remember there will be no king fishing at all that weekend of the tournament....king fishing will end at dark on Friday night and begin again at noon on Sunday for those interested in king fishing......
8/9.....Caught 5 kings today largest 31 lbs.....Pam finally caught her first and her second .....good day for the Helms household.....need to tighten up James...
8/12......Oh did I mention there is a fishing tournament this weekend???....With some help I have managed to collect enough door prizes to give away 3 every hour from 7am -10pm on Saturday and 7am-2pm on Sunday....We've gotten some good stuff too......the weather is suppose to be in the mid eighty's .....calling for only a 20% chance of rain....so that sounds normal nothing unusual about that.....Still seeing the usual summertime mix of fish.....so it should be a good weekend....Updates are going to be slow for the next week or so be patient or call the pier for the updates.....will be glad to give it to you on the phone you know.
8/18....The Weekend was wonderful sunny and warm.....there were enough fish around to make things interesting.....We had a wonderful turnout for the Tournament..... lots of really great door prizes thanks to all our sponsors.....I do believe a good time was had by all.....only a few problems that needed to be addressed.....There was no speckled trout caught so next year he will be worth $1000.00 .....I am working on a Tournament page of pictures....gonna take me a few days so don't rush me....I downloaded from 5 cameras 1065 pictures....gonna take a day or two to sort through them all....but I will and you will get to see them soon......if you have any pictures you would like to share please e-mail them to me so that they can be added (pier_witch@yahoo.com).
There has only been one king to hit the deck today and 2 lost around he pilings that I'm aware of....also weighed in one spanish at 4.68 lbs...still the normal summertime mix....one of these and one of those....maybe a few of these after dark...
Not much to tell you about out there....we had the gentle giant Hurricane Bill pass by us .....saw a few big swells a little spray through the boards and out at the end of the pier for the most part you wouldn't have known anything different going on out there if not for the news reports......lots of spectators around not alot of fisherman....so cant really give you any kind of fishing report....the ones out there aren't coming back telling me anything.....its really just that time of the year....water is warm.....things are just calm and quiet and will be for another couple weeks or until the highs are no longer in the 90's ......There are lots of yellow butterflies around ....even seeing them on the back dune....but I hear they don't count unless a certain individual seems them....and well he cant because he's not exactly in town at the moment....so maybe in a couple of weeks the spots will be around.....here's to wishful thinking right....
8/26.....You can tell that school has started back.....kinda quiet out there.....we have had an abundance of kids here this summer and now they are all back in school....the days are hot the nights are muggy....seeing only a few fish....mullet, blues, and spots.....I spent the last couple of days out there and I can tell you that the fish are far and few between....and we didn't see any bait running down the beach either....now they are threatening us with another tropical weather system due for the weekend....doesn't really look like its going to amount to much but like always things can change....but the most we will probably see is cloudy skies bigger surf and maybe a rain drop or two....and hopefully have a breeze....but you know how it is things could change in hours .....
8/30...Things are still kinda quiet out there....seeing a spot and mullet once in a while after dark....and heard of a few blues this afternoon....things still kinda normal out there waiting on some cooler weather to liven up the fishing....its coming....the weather man is suggesting some cooler weather for the coming week....
9/2...Starting to see more and more Va. Mullet after dark with a few spots mixed in .....still not enough to brag about in the day light hours....the crowds are small and quiet and the weather is cooler....getting to be that time......Look what I found on the flowers out the back door...
09/09/09....Sorry the weekend was busy....and we actually had some fish too....then we had all that rain and then I couldn't get on-line....you should have been able to hear me hollar...AAAHHHH!!!!! .....So now I'm on line again.... and I can tell you what we had over the weekend......we had some spots, mullet, pompano, and blues....some had coolers full others just had dinner...depended on what you were fishing with and where you were doing the fishing.......past few nights we have seen a few spots and mullet and still seeing a few blues....the fish aren't as plentiful as the weekend... but they are still around....and picky too....they want bloodworms...the weekend is shaping up and looking promising .....

Sterling with a cooler full of spots mullet pompano and flounder he and Chris caught
Still working out the fine details but.....The Season Passes for 2010 is scheduled to go on sale Sunday September 20th....more details to follow as I have them to share....
9/12....Things you need to know.....during the day we are catching blues, big pompano, and big flounder.....after dark we are catching blues, mullet, and a good number of spots....folks are actually filling up their coolers if they stay a little while....now I cant say its two at a time... or that they are big ones....but things are surely starting to look good out there....now it doesn't start till dark and it slacks off at daylight......so come on down and join in the fun.....We've Got Fish! I'm gonna try to get some pictures!!
9/13....Things are slower.....still seeing pompano....and lots of bait fish.....seeing a mullet and spot once in a while and seeing flounder and sheepshead.....seeing a little bit of everything just not a whole lot of anything today....there is lots of baitfish running .....had ballyhoo and finger mullet running the beach today along with the hardhead mullets.....see pictures below....

Caught blues today caught a handful of spanish also.....the guys tell me they spotted a king swim by the end but no hook ups.....Billie should be back sometime this week....might even see him fishing by the end of the week or early next week.....Welcome back Billie and Linda...
9/15.....Saw more Spanish and blues today than yesterday....still seeing just a few spots and mullet after dark.....some nights are great some nights are not....just gonna have to come on and take your chances....
9/18.....Caught four kings but only landed three yesterday ......They have caught two kings so far today but only landed one so far....still lots and lots of blues and seeing more and more spanish.....still seeing some pompano and flounder during the day and still seeing some spots and mullet after dark....still kinda the same story....some nights are great others no so great....come on down and try your luck ....the weekend looks to be good
9/20...I asked the guys to be creative and give me a fishing report....but all I got from them was blues ...spanish.... spots.... mullets.... pompano and flounder.....lets see if we can liven it up some......We are catching lots of Spanish and blues early mornings and late afternoons ....
Through out the day we are catching pompano and flounder(pictured below are Courtney and Sidney with a flounder and Pompano)... and still seeing a few blues and spanish......Usually after it gets dark we start to see the spots and mullet move in......Friday night they did outstanding.....Saturday night was a bit slower but the bite started around am on Sunday morning.....from what I hear now they are still seeing a few spots now......
There have been a couple of kings caught this past week one yesterday and one the day before....Some other things you might find interest in are ....they caught a Palometa...(pictured below for those not familar) we dont usually see these here....seeing Albacore running off the end along with Tarpon....
The weather is nice..... warm days and cooler nights.....it should only get better from here.....come on down.....
9/22....Spots are biting....and its raining
9/23....The weather is nice...catching some pompanos and blues and a couple of spots........probably see more spots after dark tonite.....Junior Garcia caught a 29 lb king....
9/25....Spots are biting two at a time....started on the left side of the pier around 2pm there a was a shift and started catching them 2 at a time on the right side of the pier....
Bloodworms and fishbites still seem to be the bait of choice for the spots but things have been really good out there .....
There was 4 kings caught out there yesterday and lots of spanish....I even got in on the action yesterday....fresh spanish for dinner was a must....
9/27.....The Weather has been rough and raining alot.....but the fish have been biting ....the nastier it was the better they were biting....today it has cleared up the rain has stopped and the wind has layed down.....the fish have slowed down.....but the fish are still biting.....here are a few pictures to get you down here.....

The week looks good for fishing....seeing some black drum and flounder as well as the pompano and mullet....so theres a little something for everyone....come on down.....
9/29.....Good news bad news.......the weather is cooler and sunny....the wind is light and out of the WEST.....the water is clearing up and spanish and blues are showing back up along with some pompano and flounder......the spots have slowed down......we have seen only a few spots tonight and a few mullet.....we need to turn the wind back on and get it back out of the north-east in order to have a more favorable conditions for those picky spots....
