Aug 16th....Yes there is still fish out there somewhere....
Aug 20th....Finally have something to talk about....caught a 36 lb king today....and a 93 lb Tarpon.....still not a whole lot going on out there.....have seen a few spanish and blues the last couple of days and rainy afternoon and evenings.....not to much to brag about after dark....
Aug 22nd.....Let me tell you a FISH story that was told to me......Jaycob age 11 hooks in to what they were guessing was a 80 lb Tarpon....(which was argued and guessed over the entire fight....some guesses going as high as a hundred pounds)......after fighting the fish for about and hour and a half his reel explodes and becomes useless.....another king fisherman (Adolfo) cuts his own rig loose and cuts Jaycob's line loose and quickly ties in a blood knot and then the fight continues on...... others take turns to give Jaycob a break from fighting the fish.....Finally 2 hrs later and 3 gaffs.....the fish is landed and wheeled over to East Coast Sports for a more accurate weight....(the cotton scales are good....but if you don't know what you are doing weighing a fish over a hundred pounds is tricky)......
WE NOW HAVE A NEW PIER RECORD.....the fish weighted in at 133 lbs with a 70" Length and a 33" Girth....The Tarpon hit a live shad.......So Now Jaycob can go back to school on Wednesday with a fish story to tell.....Congratulations to Jaycob....
Aug 25th....First day of school.....for most.....Pier is quiet....real quiet......spanish are cutting through a few are hooking up.....not much going on....not many fishing.....
Aug 29th.....Weekend has been slowish seeing a little bit of everything just not a whole lot of any one thing......kinda par for the course......lots of spanish cutting through the water just hooking up ......here are a few pics typical from the last couple of days......
We will keep our eyes and ears open and listening to the storms and try to let you know what's going on here....the storms can stir up fish....but that's all we want....see ya'll soon....
Aug 31st.....looking like its going to brush us.....have to wait and see how much of a brush we are going to get....we really don't know much more than you do at this point ....its still a wait and see.....best any of us can do..... is to do our part and pray for the rest.....as for the fishing....not much going on....seeing a few spanish and blues......nights are quiet......pier looks kinda deserted..........I have updated the tournament scrapbook page check it out let me know what you think....
